Sketching With A Pencil: For Those Who Are Just Beginning
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (December, 1991)
Author: John Hamilton
Average review score:

Didn't help me much.
First off the author isn't much of an artist and he doesn't even try to teach you anything. It is just a bunch of the guys work with a comment for each. It says on the back of the book that it teaches you how to hold a pencil properly which it does not do. The book is pretty much all based on composition not sketching. I'm sending this one back.

I have just finished reading "The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" and I totally recomend it. It took about a week to go through. After that week I was about 5 times better than before. No joke, I was totally suprised.

Fabulous Book for Beginning Sketchers
This book is a wonderful way to grasp the basics of sketching and drawing. It is easy to read and understand and it is a wonderful beginner book for those that are talented and even not so talented.

Statistics With Stata 5
Published in Paperback by Duxbury Press (18 August, 1997)
Author: Lawrence C. Hamilton
Average review score:

A limited exposition of examples of Stata commands.
Hamilton's work is lacking in precise examples for the commands on Stata 5.0 His effort does give the reader helpful illustrations, but is still lacking in an overall simplification of the statistical software.

Great for the beginner
I found this book to be an excellent resource when I first began learning how to use STATA. It doesn't teach you everything you need to know, but will give you enough of the basics to get you started. I recommend it to anyone who is starting out!

Stock Market Barometer
Published in Paperback by Fraser Publishing Co. (September, 1997)
Author: William Peter Hamilton
Average review score:

An unecessary defense of the stock market
The stock market barometer is a completely unecessary defense of what the stock market is. It provides an incredible amount of uninteresting and completely trivious information. It is definitely NOT a must read.

Classic elaboration of the Dow Theory
William Hamilton was the successor (both at the Wall Street Journal and in expounding the Dow Theory) to Charles Dow, and the one who clarified the Dow Theory as most people understand it today. To students of the Dow Theory, and of Wall Street and Investment history in general, this is a must-have volume. Also see works by Robert Rhea.

World Regional Geography: A Development Approach, Eighth Edition
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (15 August, 2003)
Authors: David L. Clawson, Merrill L. Johnson, Christopher A. Airriess, Ellen Hamilton, Samuel Aryeetey-Attoh, Douglas L. Johnson, Terry G. Jordan-Bychkov, Beth Mitchneck, and Jack F. Williams
Average review score:

Seriously Biased
The tendency of this book to ridicule America (its history, its culture, its priorities, etc.) really calls into question the objectivity and political persuasion of its authors. Whether it's the destruction of the environment or world poverty, America and the American people are always to blame. We use too much energy; we don't share enough; blah blah blah. America does more to promote peace and economic development throughout the world than any other country. While the authors of this book don't seem to be so, I, for one, am PROUD to be an American

As a text
The general feel of this book is dark and dull. Graphics are oddly benign, upside, the Geography in Action sections offer realistic insight into Geographic concepts. Clawson and Fisher tried.

Alexander the Great
Published in Unknown Binding by Hutchinson ()
Author: J. R. Hamilton
Average review score:

Thorough but liveless account of the live of Alexander II.
J. R. Hamilton's book is a thorough account of the life of Alexander the Great. Starting with his youth in Macedonia he discusses all the major points of interest in Alexander life, such as the Callisthenes affair, the murder of Kleitos and Parmenion and so forth. Hamilton does not try to paint a coherent picture of Alexander, but tries to find the "truth" by assessing the validity of various sources. The advantage of this method, i.e. not squeezing historical facts into a pre-fabricated picture of Alexander is however one of the literary weaknesses of the book; it lacks a drive, an overall assessment of Alexander.

Antonin Artaud : Collected Works (Volume 3)
Published in Paperback by John Calder Pub Ltd (1999)
Authors: Alastair Hamilton, Translator, Antonin Artaud, and Victor Corti
Average review score:

The unknown Artaud
This third volume of A. Artaud for whom Sartre siad that he is "the new poet of horror" continued the complete edition of his works. It is not as important as the "Theatre and its double" or Artaud's poems, but includes some of his Scenarios, views on the Cinema, Interviews held with Artaud, as well as his correspondance with Mademoiselle Yvonne Gilles, Madame Yvonne Allendy, Louis Jouvet and others. Although this volume might not be as significant as those containing his poetry and views on the theatre, it is an important link if we want to understand - as far as this is possible - the inner world of a man of tragic insolubility without gaining a distance of safety - that of an audience. Despite being known for his thetre of cruelty, Artaud is more a poet of sharp realization of existence; this volume adds to this understanding.

Booz Allen & Hamilton: The VaultReports.com Employer Profile for Job Seekers
Published in Paperback by Vault Reports Inc (01 January, 1998)
Authors: Vault Reports, Vault Com Inc, and Vault Reports
Average review score:

Worth reading
It was good to know some inside stories about this company. However a lot of information was provided on the company's web site. For a company this size, some workplace environment description do not really apply. I was hoping to get more information than the book had provided.

A six-pack for the holidays

A MISTLETOE CHRISTMAS/Anthea Malcolm--Elizabeth Alder had stubbornly broken her engagement a year ago. But on Christmas Eve, she is given antoher chance at romance...if she's brave enough to take it.
SHEER SORCERY/Elizabeth Thornton--On Christmas Eve, Jess will at last come of age and be free of her insufferable guardian-unless she finds there's something she wants even more than freedom...

Good mix of stories from familiar authors. The only story I rushed through was SHEER SORCERY. I just couldn't care about the characters. Other than that one, the rest are fine.

Echinacea: The Immune Herb (Herbs and Health Series)
Published in Paperback by Botanica (October, 1995)

Average review score:

A good book on Echinacea
Although not as scholarly and thorough as Steven Foster's book on Echinacea, this book is a good introduction to Echinacea.
